Staining Kits
Depending on the required sensitivity protein gels are Coomassie®-, silver or fluorescence stained after electrophoresis.
Besides SERVA DensiStain Blue G for rapid staining for routine applications, we offer with the SERVA HPE™ Coomassie® Staining Kit (cat. no. 43396) a highly sensitive staining for proteomics. The sensitivity of the kit is comparable to silver staining.
SERVA developed as well highly sensitive silver staining kits for proteomics and CSF diagnostic. The reagents of the SERVA HPE™ Silver Staining Kit (cat. no. 43395) are MS compatible.
SERVA HPE™ Lightning Red (cat. no. 43300) and SERVA Lightning Red for 1D SDS PAGE (cat. no. 43401) are fluorescent dyes for rapid labelling of proteins prior to 1D - or 2D PAGE, making any staining and washing steps after electrophoresis unnecessary. The SERVA Lightning Red for 1D SDS PAGE Kit is sufficient for 500 lanes or 1250 lanes – no matter what size of gel - mini, wide or large format - you use. Patterns of two-dimensional electrophoresis separations of protein mixtures labelled with SERVA HPE™ Lightning Red do not show any detectable differences to unlabelled protein mixtures. In addition the dye is fully compatible with mass spectrometry and other downstream methods like Western Blotting.
If you have no access to a fluorescent imager for detection use SERVA ProteinStain Fluo-Y (cat. no. 35092) for staining of your protein gels - a fast and sensitive fluorescent protein stain for 1D or 2D SDS-PAGE. No destain step is necessary and stained gels may be directly visualized with a variety of different UV-based fluorescence imaging systems. The dye is fully compatible with mass spectrometry.

Staining Reagents
We offer a broad range of high quality reagents for staining of agarose and polyacrylamide gels for protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis.
SERVA DNA Stain G (cat. no. 39803) and SERVA DNA Stain Clear G (cat. no. 39804) are a safe, non-carcinogenic alternative to traditional ethidium bromide. It is at least as sensitive as ethidium bromide and can be used in exactly the same way in agarose gel electrophoresis.
