HPE™ BlueHorizon

The HPE™ BlueHorizon™ is a flatbed system for horizontal electrophoresis using precast gels, self-cast gels and gel strips. Main applications are isoelectric focusing (IEF) including the run of IPG strips (like SERVA IPG BlueStrips) in 2D PAGE and SDS PAGE, but also the separation of nucleic acids in polyacrylamide gels.
The unit consists of a stable metal housing and an integrated drawer. The drawer holds the cooling plate with connectors for the external refrigeration system (e.g. the circulatory refrigerator bath HPE™ Cooling Unit, cat. no. HPE-CU1). The cooling plate is made from special ceramic material (maximum gel size 260 x 205 mm) for efficient cooling. It provides even heat dissipation, allowing to run gels at a temperature as low as 4 °C. This is particularly important when applying high voltage to thin isoelectric focusing (IEF) gels.
The electrode lid comes with one pair of platinum electrodes. Three fixed electrode positions allow the usage of a wide range of different sized gels. Optional, an electrode lid with a triple electrode arrangement for bi-directional gel run is available. The easy-to-clean housing allows placing the power supply on top of the unit saving valuable space on your bench.

  • High capacity cooling plate suitable for high voltage applications like IEF etc.
  • Fixed platinum electrode distances of 270 mm, 195 mm and 115 mm
  • For all kinds of film-backed flatbed gels, selfcast or precast
  • Samples are easy to load
  • Economical reagent usage (minimizing running buffer volume)
  • Smart design - made in Germany

HPE™ Tower System

The HPE™ Tower System allows electrophoretical separations in up to four horizontal gels at the same time. It is used for 1D and 2D electrophoresis gels, where multiple runs are an important demand. Structurally, the HPE™ Tower consists of four horizontal electrophoresis chambers, which are built as movable drawers into a metal housing.
The HPE™ Tower and the HPE™ gels have been developed together as a system, in order to achieve better results than can be obtained with conventional SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) technology. The precast HPE™ gels, which are less than 1 mm thin and film-backed, are protected from light during the run. No glass plates are used. They are placed on aluminum oxide ceramic cooling plates, which ensures very efficient heat dissipation and therefore straight electrophoretic migration in each gel.

SERVA HPE™ ScreenPicker

The semi-manual SERVA HPE™ ScreenPicker alllows spot picking from fluorescent gels without visual post staining. The gel is placed on a horizontal flat screen which displays the scanned 2D image 1:1. Spots to pick are visualized one at a time by crosshair on the image. The plugs are disposed error-free into 96 well plates by using the picking list and the intgrated plate identifier control.

- 2D image displayed 1:1 on gel via flat screen
- Guided picking spot by spot with error-free plug disposal

BluePower™ 500x4 Power Supply

The allround instrument serving many applications, e.g., SDS PAGE, submarine electrophoresis and blotting. BluePower™ 500x4 features 500 V, 1000 mA and 200 W. The BP-500x4 power supply is particularly advised for operation of up to four vertical slab gel units run at higher voltage, also resulting in shorter running times and for blotting applications (tank blot, semi-dry blot). 4 x 2 outlets, programmable.

BluePower™ 3000x4 Power Supply

BluePower™ 3000x4 is designed for high voltage applications (isoelectric focusing, DNA sequencing) delivering 3000 V, 200 mA and 300 W. Other applications (SDS PAGE, submarine electrophoresis) can be performed as well. 4 x 2 outlets, programmable.

BlueVertical™ PRiME™ - the new mini slab gel system from SERVA

BV104_new_b.jpg

BlueVertical™ PRiME™ has been especially designed to run SERVAGel™ precast gels and other precast gels with an outer cassette dimension of 10 x 10 x 0.7 cm.
The fixture of the inner core unit has been completely re-engineered  to ensure the precise fit of the gel cassette(s). The BlueVertical™ is the perfect electrophoresis mini tank system to run precast gels in SDS PAGE, native PAGE, IEF or nucleic acid PAGE applications. A unique innovative clamp system keeps the gel cassettes in their correct place at the inner core running module, leak-free and ready to start within seconds. Built-in convenient operation features result in improved daily work.
Developed, produced and assembled in Germany – another top quality product from SERVA.

BlueFlash™ Medium

Semi-dry blotting is faster than tank blotting. It requires less material and generates less heat. This has to do with the large volume of electrically conductive buffer used in tank blotting. Attempts to achieve high electric field strengths for rapid blotting lead to very high current demands and consequently large heat loads. These are not usually a factor in semi-dry blotting as the closely spaced electrodes separated by less conductive saturated filter papers permit rapid electrophoresis without the very high current. Both, discontinuous and continuous buffer systems can be applied. Discontinuous buffer systems are particularly recommended because transfer is very homogeneous for a wide range of molecular weights, even larger proteins up to 200 kDa can be transferred with an efficiency of > 80%. The BlueFlash™ Semi-Dry Blotters are equipped with long-lasting electrodes made from synthetic carbon. They are resistant to corrosion (pH 3 - 9, SDS) and built for homogeneous, fast and efficient transfer of nucleic acids and proteins. The spring-mounted anode can be adapted to thicker gels (up to 5 mm) and gel stacks. The acrylic housing is resistant to 10 % ethanol and easy to clean. Safety lid, including design to prevent short-circuit (no gel). Little bench space required. Flexible Format and Application: Choose the right format for your application. SERVA offers semi-dry blotter units with various blotting areas ranging from small-sized BF-S and BF-M for mini gels up to large format BF-XXL to fit 2D gels. The sizes available suit all gel formats. They are suitable for blotting of large format gels (e.g. 2D) or simultaneous transfer of a series of mini gels. Usually, stacks of 2 gels can be blotted
